The Greatness & Power of God
Ephesians 1:19-20 — “and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,”
As a Christian, it is so easy to feel defeated. Every day we wake up and face a fallen, wicked world filled with troubles and hardships of all kinds (Job 14:1). It doesn’t take much for us to get discouraged, hang our heads, and feel helpless.
When it comes to feeling helpless, there has never been a more dire and terrifying situation for believers than when Jesus, the Messiah of Israel and Savior of the world, was murdered and laid to rest in a tomb in Jerusalem. His disciplines were sullen, defeated, and filled with doubts. In the midst of their confusion and disappointment, God was working His greatest miracle yet.
Just like the disciples, we so quickly and easily discount God’s power within our minds in reaction to our fears and anxieties. Though He delivers for us over and over again, each time we face a new battle our hearts and minds whimper in fear and imagine that surely He cannot do it again. But the apostle Paul contradicts our fears, proclaiming that His power is “immeasurably great” and that He has “great might”.
When you go through the ups and downs of the Christian walk, always remember that you don’t serve a weak, impotent God who is unable to deliver when you need Him. You serve a mighty, formidable God who makes demons shudder in His presence. A God who makes worlds appear by simply speaking. A God who makes the blind to see and dead to rise with just a touch. A God who calms the raging sea with a simple rebuke. A God who sits in heavenly places far above all powers and dominions. A God who converts broken, hopeless sinners into children and saints with the covering of His blood. You serve the God who never fails, so start living like it.
